Music By Brandon Walker presents “Christmas Treats”, an album by Five Cent Candies. Jazzy Christmas ballads and grooves to put some spice in your egg nog! Videos of each track below.

“Christmas Treats” album came about in the fall of 2012 as a collaboration between Brandon Walker and Ian MacGillivray, under the band name “Five Cent Candies. The goal was to produce a fun and enjoyable Christmas Jazz CD in the style of Lee Morgan, Stanley Turrentine, Jimmy Smith, and Horace Silver. Both Ian and Brandon wrote new music as well as arrangements of classic Christmas tunes for the project. The recording was done mostly in one session in Brandon’s living room in Oakville, Ontario with the help of bassist Shafton Thomas and drummer Dave MacDougall (pictured below). The result was something that they were all proud of and has become an annual favourite at this time of year. This year, music videos of each track were created to help commemorate the album.

2. Santa’s Big Day – a fun arrangement of some Christmas classics composed and arranged by Ian MacGillivray.
3. Sugar Plum Drum – a festive reggae holiday groove written by Ian MacGillivray with a fun montuno middle section to get your feet moving!
4. Present Time – A heartfelt Christmas tune written by Brandon Walker, featuring Brandon on soprano saxophone and Ian MacGillivray on flugelhorn. Wait for the hidden surprise at the end!
5. Blue Christmas – a holiday favourite, sung by Ian and featuring a lush tenor saxophone solo by Brandon.
6. Christmas Happens – a lush Christmas jazz ballad featuring Ian on flugelhorn and Brandon on piano.
7. Peanut Brittle – a fun jazzy Christmas blues
