“Pastoral” released by SPO

I am honoured for my composition “Pastoral,” released on Scarborough Philharmonic Orchestra’s album, “Canadian Expedition”. “Pastoral (for oboe, violin, viola, and cello)” is the third track, released by Akashik Rekords and distributed by Universal Music Group. It features Gillian Howard on oboe, Corey Gemmell on violin, Brenna McLane on viola, and SPO’s Ronald Royer on cello.

Pastoral for Oboe Quartet portrays life, longing, and love in a simple yet idyllic
setting. Brandon Walker was inspired by British composers of the first half of the
20th century, who were inspired by the natural beauty of the British countryside.
Written for oboe, violin, viola, and cello, flowing melodic melodies transport the
listener to a time and place rich in emotion. Pastoral was written for the
Scarborough Philharmonic Orchestra Chamber Players in 2022.

The Canadian Expedition album was conceived to take listeners on a group of varied
musical journeys. Written by 10 Canadian composers, these journeys are inspired by
musical and cultural elements from Canada, the United States, Latin America, Europe
and the Middle East. These expeditions range from the exciting cinematic orchestral
showpiece Epitaph, to the intimacy and humour of the solo violin Variations on Green
Bushes. In between, our composers use a variety of styles, instruments and themes, to
allow for engaging, thoughtful, and fun adventures.
