The Enchantress for String Orchestra

The Enchantress, for String Orchestra

About the Work:

“The Enchantress” is a single movement piece for (grade 5) string orchestra written by composer Brandon Walker. Score and audio produced using StaffPad for iOS and the Spitfire Audio Chamber Strings library. This score version does not contain bowing.

Program Notes:

The Enchantress was composed Labor Day 2020, a getaway to escape the confines of quarantine in the city. The composer’s trip to Parry Sound on Georgian Bay revealed an inspiring landscape, reminiscent of rugged, mystifying terrain of a mythical kingdom ruled by sorcery. The lakeshores sit on contorted bedrock, the deeply eroded remnants of an ancient, majestic mountain range from a world long ago. A world beholden to The Enchantress. The rock creases speak her secrets. The windswept pines reveal her spells. Journey with The Enchantress through her sweeping world of magic, romance, trial, and tribulations. Beware her charms, or you may never want to come back to reality.
